Native Android client for reopenchat.com. Multi-cam rooms, end-to-end encrypted DMs (between Snorchat-app peers), encrypted local history, push delivery, picture-in-picture.

Distributed via our F-Droid repo. No Play Store, no ads, no telemetry beyond what reopenchat itself collects.

Install

1 Install the F-Droid client

If you don't already have it, grab the official F-Droid app:

Download F-Droid F-Droid website

Sideloading: open the APK once it downloads, accept "Install from unknown sources" if prompted.

2 Add the Project Ghost repo

Tap this button on the same Android device:

Add repo to F-Droid

Or add manually in F-Droid → Settings → Repositories → +:

3 Install Snorchat

F-Droid will sync the repo index. Pull-to-refresh the Latest tab; "Snorchat" will appear. Tap → Install.

Verify what you installed

Every release APK is signed with our F-Droid repo signing key. After install, verify the package signature matches:

Verify on-device:

Or off-device:

The SHA-256 digest: line should match exactly. If it doesn't, do not install — open an issue first.

What it talks to

reopenchat.com — REST + Socket.IO for rooms, chat, DMs. Your username + email + password are reopenchat's, not ours. The app routes via our jumphost so reopenchat sees a residential IP, not your phone's.
api.snorchat.xyz — federated cross-room user index. Snorchat clients pool their observations so you can see who's online without joining every room.
cdn.snorchat.xyz — image attachment storage and link-preview proxy. EXIF stripped, content re-encoded.
media.reopenchat.com — direct WebRTC peer connections for cam/audio. Goes peer-to-peer, never through us.
